Hi, tomorrow i am looking at a 2003 Toyota Hilux Single Cab Chassis 3.0L Turbo Diesel.

The car has just passed 100,000kms. The seller has told me he will have the 100k service done before the car is sold.

I am not extremely mechanically minded but is there anything I should check for (under the bonnet etc. Check colour of oil?) and anything I should take notice of when I have a test drive?

If I like the car I will be sure to get a full RACQ test on it before I buy it.

But I am just wondering if there is any tell tail signs or things to check to see if I should even consider getting an RACQ test.

Cheers
Mitch

RACQ check is useless shiat, but I guess if it makes you feel better...

I dunno hiluxes too well but some basics, look for any smoke at all, drive it in every gear and make sure the gearbox feels good and doesn't make any untoward noises, see if you can whack it in 4WD on gravel somewhere as well.

Seems like rather high kms for the age but that wouldn't worry me if it looks tidy.

A service history would be good, and also finding out what the 100,000 km service consists of. If he just does a $100 service and calls it a 100,000km service it doesn't count for much.

Make sure the oil was changed every 5000km.
THe 1kz-te needs this.
If it has been done every 5000 then you should not have a problem.
Also check when fuel filter has ben changed.
The coolant should have been changed at least twice with those Km's.
Generally check service history.
If all good then 100,000km just run in.

He said it has been changed every 5000km but his books are not stamped for this as he has done it himself. So you think its safe just to take what he says?
