removing the crank

I am stripping down a block and have run into a problem.
I cant remove the 17mm bolt on the crank in front of the oil pump... what am i missing? Is there some trick>?

Yeh, Loosen it while its in the car and use a very big breaker bar.

Put your conrod back on number 1,facing the sump,place a piece on reasonably strong timber next to crank,i used my large wooden hammer,and clamp it with the crank. Then use a breaker bar or slide a piece of pipe over your ratchet. Should do the trick

it's a project block for a blueprint build (no car... yet)
