Hi,
just bought SAAS boss kit, part No.BK144L, for a GQ and it is too loose on the spline.

Would anybody know if SAAS is a bad fit or maybe wrong part, Supercheap did look up catalogue.

Thanks in advance

Craig

A while ago when i went to get a boss kit (from supercheap) the guy behind the counter told me the GQ's had two different kits, depending on model, I cant remember now which one i got but just go back and ask for the other one for a GQ, they should know what it is.

There's a long (L in part No. ) and short in the boss kit. So Supercheap told me.

I have long, length is good, just spine is to loose. Will try other boss kit in catalogue.

Thanks Craig

The chic told me they only make one for a GU.Are they the same as a GQ?

Ive got a SAAS Wheel on my Maverick, it was there when I bought it.

It has come off a few times in the bush :( Luckily I always have a socket set in the car.

Its like the boss kit only sits a mm or so over the steering column splines. When the nut gets loose the wheel comes off the splines. Retightening fixes it.

Is this what you guys mean by too loose?

Take it back and they will help you. Be polite and nice. Just make it clear that it doesn't fit correctly, get the part number double checked. If it is correct then there must be a manufacturing issue as I doubt there would be any wear in your car. SAAS were always pretty good but no company is perfect all the time unfortunately.

I can't remember the part numbers off the top of my head but there would only be the one in the SAAS range. So they could get hold of another of the same I guess.

Your other option through Supercheap will be an AutoTechnica Boss Kit which I have sold for GQ's in the past I think and I don't recall having any fitment issues with them.

I used to manage a SuperCheap store. Let me know if you have any difficulties.

I got a autotechnica boss kit in my GQ. I got it from repco, paid around $70-$80 for it and it fitted perfectly.

Whats the difference in length like overall?
Does the long one sit at the standard position or further out?
i.e. Is the shorter one at the factory spot?

cheers

boss kits are two types in GQ's.

early and late

the easyest way to tell you have the late model boss is if your rear wiper switch is on your wiper stalk, you have a late model type.

yeah this model has the rear wiper switch on the left stalk.
but it does not have a GU front diff, only the large steering box came standard. if it has a gu diff, someone swapped it over.
