What are you hoping to achieve? eg.reeceole wrote:Wanting to lift the body of me 94 model. I know the 2 inch lift is most commen but i was wondering is there any more trouble in doing a 3 inch lift? Is it worth it??
What size tyres do you want to run?
Do you want to wheel it or just make it look "cool"?
What terrain do you want to drive?
What other plans do you have for the car?
Is it a sierra or Vitara?
Well I'm guessing that they didn't think everyone would carry on like a big bunch of sooky girls over it like they have........
yeh sorry its a 94 model sierra by the way.
for the moment its just the looks but eventually probably bigger rubber. it already has a two inch suspesion lift and have a shit load more mods in mind for it but just learnin and startin out at the moment. if ya have any handy mods or ideas let us know! will be driving mainly sand and a bit of mud.. but wanna be capable for anything

2 or 3 inch body lift?
I have 89 Sierra with 2 inch spring and 3 inch body lift with 31x10.5 BF At's. I have photos at full stretch but I don't know how to post them here without a website. I think a 2 inch body lift would foul the tyres on the guards.Send me a PM with your email address and the pics are yours. I want33s and you can tell by the photos that the wheelarches will need work. jas[/img]

Re: 2 or 3 inch body lift
I'm running 31x10.5's with standard springs, extended shackles and no body lift. Just a little bit of trimming.want33s wrote:Here is a pic of my Sierra 2 inch spring 3 inch body 31x10.5 at's. I think 2 inch body lift would be very tight on tyres. jas

really there isnt much difference beween 2 or 3inch
if you have to go body lift just go for 2 inches. even better cut or find some other way to fit rubber.
i have 3 inch body lift in mine and its the worst modd in the world i hate it.

Not starting a fight on here but why is that?RB zook wrote:

I second with the go the 2" only. should be plenty for mods to start. My new zook build i am aiming for 0-1" spring and 2" body lift for 31's mainly as bodylifts do not sag.

i didnt need to cut any holes bigger. some careful bending and worked out fine. transfer stick i cut and extended also made it work for the diffierent location of the transfer.want33s wrote:Apart from having to cut the shifter hole a bit larger what's the drama?RB zook wrote:really there isnt much difference beween 2 or 3inch

Body lift only raises the body which in a Sierra has SFA weight, SPOA raises everything thus the COG goes up the whole amount of the lift, 4" minimum. You are comparing a mod which takes a couple of hours and can be done for a couple of hundred to something which would take days and requires good welding skills, good fabrication skills, spacers or new shafts, steering mods and numerous other changes.CWBYUP wrote:Body lift raises the COG and makes it to easy to roll.
If its SPOA you would be able to fit 31's with a little trimming but being in QLD the body lift is the only real way to fit them without doing some majour body surgery.
A 2" lift is easy and doesn't require extended fuel hoses etc., etc. Worst case you may have to open up the shifter holes a bit.

You can buy a bolt on SPOA kit that dont take days to install
Body lifts can stress mounts (mine were twisted when i removed my BL). True about the weight though. I went from 2 inch BL and 2 inch springs with ext shackles to SPOA with low perches and flat springs still with ext shackles, and mine acutally lost an inch of height (approx) and feels nicer. More flex too. Though going spoa IMHO need a Trac bar. If yo uwant to keep it low, no BL and guard chop is the go. Stumped has 2 inch springs and ext shackles. and can fit 33's under it. Nice stable height too. I dont know why people think they need 3 inch BL and 2 inch springs to clear 31's. If your only driving sand and mud suspension travel is not a major concern anyway. Another thing to consider when lifting the car is extra aero drag. Lifting a zook 5 inches will make a noticable difference.

agreed
would only go 2 in bl . you would end up doin a fair bit more modding from what i saw doin the 2in . plus 31s would fitt easy with 2in spring 2in BL iv got big 32s that i have herd measure as big as a 33 under using that and i never get rubbing . only sometimes on the fuel filler cover ( which i should show some love with hammer and fix it, just being lazy).
