Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Afternoon all

The HJ61i recently bought came with this thing among other things like AM etc.

What is it? cant find a serial number to ID it. Figured someone on here would know what it is.

thats just an AM cb for comunicating with other vehicles but now people use UHF

i see. This is AM too though?

This one has 40 channels.. The one in the previous photo, i should have mentioned, has 100 channels

THe first pic is of an old Philips FM900. It is a commercial radio so could either be on UHF CB or have some commercial frequencies in it (eg courier company)

The other pic is of a UNIDEN AX144 27Mhz AM, Sideband CB.

The 100 channel radio is probably a VHF which is next to useless.

As mentioned before it's a Philips FM92 local control radio. The identifying label on these radios are a sticker on the side of the radio. This might have been removed. The clues to finding out the band of the radio is a letter/number code.
E 68-88 MHz
B 132-153 MHz
A 148-174 MHz
T 403-420 MHz
U 440-470 MHz
W1 470-500 MHz (this is what you need for UHF CB)
W2 500-520 MHz
These radio also have a factory fitted test label under one of the covers, this can also give clues to what the radio is, if the covers are the originals of course.
The FM92 is getting rather old (introduced around the mid 80's), they work OK, but they are big and bulky by todays standards, not what I would want in my 4x4....
I use an 'A' band one at work on the 2M amateur radio band. A whole heap of 'A' band FM92's were released by the Victroian CFA into the secondhand marketplace. They aren't worth much, my dad picked up five remote control versions for $100.

Some 4wd clubs use the fm radio like the vic landy club.
