Spotlight bulb upgrades ?

This may seem silly, but can I buy bigger bulbs for my spotties, to make them brighter ? Is it worth the dollars, and can you use them for ages at a time ? Or is the brightness in the engineering/quality of the light itself ?
Also, can I upgrade my standard 88 lux lights to aftermarket ones ( brighter etc ) ? If so what are they worth ?

you have the round 7 inch head lights? Welli have a zook with those round lights, and tried various bulbs, in the end went hid, and damn best bucks i ever spent, total would of been close to 400 in the end.
300 on hid kit, 100 for new reflectors,
and they have a great fill, close and mid range, then the light force i have are set to more pencil. They are great long range. Time wise well use them for driving at night, so hrs are pretty good so far.

and if you can't afford the hid headlights, do a headlight loom upgrade and that'll make a shit load of difference. can also whack new globes in then cause you'll have the current capacity to run them brighter.
to do the loom yourself need 3 h4 connectors from bursons $12 (2 for headlights the other converted to plug into existing loom for sense inputs), 2 relays $20 should be more than enough, 1 resistor and 1 diode $3, couple of fuse holders $5 maybe, and some thick cable $?? don't know get mine from work. few bits and pieces, couple hours building and then plug n play

Some observations from what i have done over the years.
The biggest change will be an upgraded headlight loom and decent reflectors/headlights.
Next put in some decent globes, I found IPF 80/110 to be really good. The IPF fatboys are a waste of money/time. Some people are really happy with the Phillips upgrade globes.
I have a set of 42 watt HID globes in a set of Super Oscar driving lights. When these were on, the headlights were redundant and made no visible difference to driving with the main headlights on or off.
Just recently I have installed a set of BiZenon HiD globes in the headlights, not the sliding type but the ones with the two HID bulbs on the same stem.
These are now so good that the 42 watt HID super oscars make no difference to the light output. Cant tell whether they are on or off without actually looking at them. May have to source some long range lenses to see if that will make them usefull again or might as well remove them.
