Hi All

Did a search and couldn't really find the answers to my question.

Just purchased a 1999 Nissan 4.2 TD and want to rust proof it. Was thinking electronic. Any recommendations on what units? Found a few on ebay but prices vary. A few were under $200 and a few about 500. What's difference?

Look forward to your comments!

ive got a erps and i'd say it works.

ive got no rust on the body or chassis the only thing that rusted straight away was a galvo bolt on the nudge bar it rusted up really bad in only a week and i had to grind it off. but my mate and i have the same car bought at the same time in the same condition, and we've both been doing the same driving, including quite a few runs up bribie beach and his is starting to get corrosion in the wheel wells and around the chassis on scratches and the like.

also i had a big amount of paint chip off the lhs door on the edge and it went to bar metal and still hasn't even got surface corrosion after a few months. i fixed it anyway though.

I had an ERPS brand system on a VL Crummydore, it had a fair amount of rust when I put it on, but it didn't get any worse during the 2 years I owned the car.

I also agree that it works. I bought my Wrangler brand new and in the first 12 months of bush and beach bashing, i'd added a few marks to my towbar and had to sand back and re-paint it every 2-3 months from all the beach work i was doing otherwise rust was accumulating pretty quick - almost overnight on bare metal. Also my front tow hooks, although they never got much use always seemed to bubble up with rust on the bolt heads where i sanded back and painted them every few months.

I then fitted ERPS (4 pads) and i in the last 4, yes that's right FOUR years i've done much more bashing and beach work and used the tow hooks A LOT and havn't painted it in the last few years at all.

The only stuff that i notice rusting is my soft top components which are mostly insulated from the body & therefore also insulated from the ERPS current.

I think it takes about 80 miliamps or about 6 months until your battery is dead. :) I leave my jeep for 2-4 week stints in the garage without starting it and it doesn't affect the battery at all - starts up no worries.

i have couplertech on my cruiser and i duno if it works or not my 80 still seem to be rusting in small places but it does look shiny.
also these units hate water sa make sure all conections are soldered when installed.
