Ignition problems with my BJ40

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas about my little problem. My BJ40 starts OK but I have to stall it to turn off. I can turn the key back and take it out and the engine still runs. I think it might be the edick motor, but is there anything else I should have a look at as well.

Thanks a lot

ive got the same issue in a BJ i picked up recently.. i THINK its the fuel control relay.. a box that usually sits tucked up in the panel next to your glove box.. maybe take it out have a look inside and clean the parts up a bit might help.

this little box controls the edic motor which overfuels for starting, and stops your 3b..

hope this helps.

Thanks for that. I've pulled the relay out and it all looks fine to me. Plug maybe a little corroded but it doesn't look enough to effect it. is there a Plan B :) Thanks a lot

Plan B is to use an engine kill cable. Buy a generic choke cable and mount it in the dash, run the other end to the fuel shutoff. You will need to use part of the arm from the edic motor (just the end part that clicks onto the fuel shutoff) and make a fitting to connect that to the end of the cable. If you continue to stall the engine to stop it like i did it will cause other problems. So either get it fixed or install the engine kill cable!
