Looking at getting MTRs or the Dick Cepick FC 2s in 35x12.5x15, just wanted to know what would be the better buy.
They are going on a hilux dual cab.
Looking for a offroad tyre with good road manners, not really into mud.

Not sure on the FC2's but some have popped up for the right price.
Any advice welcome.

Thanks
Matt

I have never used the Cepicks but I have MTRs in that size on my Lux and they are a great all round tyre that loves offroad stuff (except the really goopy mud).
I also have a set of 30" MTRs on my zook and I think that in the smaller sizes the tread pattern is not open enough but still a great tyre.

Had both – prefer the MTR due to being more off road capable IMO. It sounds like you are planning less off road therefore I’d go the FC2s.

Hope to be doing more offroad than on, 60% offroad or more. Don't like mud been there, done that.

Only drive 5 mins to work, but still want to be able to drive 2 hours on road to go camping, LCMP etc. Also want the missus to feel confident to drive the beast.

Ludacris why the cepicks?
thanks for the replies.

I prefered the MTR's got excellent wear out of my first set and mate had the cepeks not as an agressive tyre. These were both 35's and he to agreed his MTR's went better then the Cepeks

Also the MTR's were great on the road due to having the Silica Compound in them where as teh Cepeks werent as grippy espacially in the wet.

Speak with AJ, he has the Cepeks and they are poo in mud/clay etc that you encounter up around Vic Range track they dont clean. Bazzle dragged his anus round a bit up there while I had a rooted steering arm waitin on parts..

Apart from that he was very happy with them as an all round touring tire.

MTR's have no issues with driving 8 hours to get to a playground before hitting 4wd.. They are still the best.

The Cepecs will last a lot longer than MTR's and drive nicer on road.

The Dick Cepek FCII is a great bush All Terrain, whereas the Goodyear MTR is a great bitumen mud terrain. The MTR is a fair bit more open in the pattern and better suited to playing harder offroad than the FCII.
The FCII is great as a camping/ touring tyre. Quite durable on gravel roads and moderate offroad work.
It all comes down to what you do with the vehicle.
If it's more traction offroad that you are chasing, go the MTR. If you don't play all that hard, but want a tyre that will stand up to some reasonable bush work while providing great kms and a bit more comfort in the ride, go the FCII.

Cheers,
