Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Any thougts on this ?

Gen 2 1992 V6 3.0

Did a run today, about 22 ks to day on a clay track, got back on the tarseal, about a k down the road put the boot in, and the truck misfires, anything more than the lightest touch on the throttle and the engine misses, cuts out etc, idles fine.

Switched off, checked under the hood, fire up and it runs without a problem

Its running fine now, but would like to hear from anyone who has had similar, as dont want this to happen again.

Possible problem could be the idle switch on the throttle not indicating correctly ?

Not familiar with the engine, but on my car I recently trouble shooted it and had to check;

- Spark Plugs (Do this first)
- Fuel Pump (check the pressure)
- Coil Packs/Igniter (Or leads if you have that style engine)
- Air Flow Meter

In the end it was the air flow meter. Mine got progressivly worse. I replaced all the above, with the AFM being last. haha. I needed a new fuel pump and plugs anyways, the coil packs I replaced as I did some things with them that 'proved' they were the problem...it was just co-incidence.

Sounds like a fuelling problem to me. I had a similar problem on my 2.6 when it was still carbied. Pretty sure it was due to incorrect mixture under load.

I know you're efi, but it may pay to check your Air flow meter, oxygen sensor, injectors and so on. I'm probably wrong but plugs/leads would normally cause the problem at idle as well.

I am picking it is electrical/electronic as it started sudenly, and stopped just as quick, so rules out plugs, leads, coil, fuel pump, fileter etc

This leaves AFM, O2 air and water temp and possibly distributer (crank angle sensor)

Water/Moisture in Distributor ??

A member recently had lots of trouble with a cracked connector on a fuel injector - sometimes it made good contact, sometimes it didn't. Check it out?

Will look into bot of those (dizzy and injector connections)

Almost rule out injector conections, as this is a total engine misfire, not just 1 or 2 cylinders.

Previous owner had problem with the dizzy.......

could also be a dodgy batch of fuel...let that tank of fuel get low before you fill up again so you get that batch out of your system.

I know it's unlikly, but it's worth trying.
