Hi all
After looking through nearly 1800 searches i cant find the info im after so i have to ask. The filler plug on the transfer of an 85 4 runner which is on the passenger side. How can you get the bastard off??? I tried swinging off it with the socket and bar but just managed to round the edges off. Any tips on doing it easier?
Also what thread are the plugs on it cause i suspect i have the old toyota problem of the transfer and box oil mixing up cause my box was overfilled to buggery. Im thinking of putting the hose between the gearbox and transfer.
Any ideas or help will be much appreciated cause im taking the old girl away on Tuesday so hopefully want to sort the problem out tomorrow.
Any help will be much appreciated!
Matt

Use a 6 sided socket not a 12 sided one.
gently tap the nut before applying the socket to help break any seal.

Get a good angle, and breaker bar onto it so you have good control of the socket so it wont slip off the nut on an angle when you apply torque.
If all else fails a blunt chisel on one flat tapped in the undoing direction, ie anti clockwise will remove all but rust frozen nuts.
Care can be taken to use the nut again after this method too.
Some may not respond well the the applied force.

If you can get a rattle gun to it, then try that too.
