what going on :roll: . flat battery, charge battery, take battery lead off the battery and car dies, ok Alternator gone. go for a drive 10 amps on gauge. battery goes flat again, charge battery again. go for another drive 14 amps this time. now when i take the battery leads off the battery car still goes. is it tell me some think about the Alternators ready to die :roll:

how old is the barrety is it sealed? or checkable?, charge the battery with a battery charger, then check the out put of the alternator.

get a hydrometer from superchit auto for $5 and check the SG of each cell. good is 1.16-1.3

i think i found the problem. there was a loose wire on the battery , just didnt see it at first seems ok now .

just a note on running the motor without the battery hooked up DONT DO IT! it stuffs the alernator you may get away with it at idle but as soon as you rev it you will more than likely blow the diodes

i foud out the hard way :cry:

another question, will it hurt if i put a wire from the + side of the Alternator to the + side of the battery = short cut.

there should be 1 there already but not as noticeable.

it will depend on which + / positive you are talking about the big one which has a nut and thread ,that goes to the battery the little one with a push on lug should go through the ignition
