Steering shaft

Does anyone know when the steering shaft changed from the solid single piece of steel to the two piece telescopic collapsible kind found in later models.

I know a lot of changes occurred around '89, was this one of them?

In Vicelore's write up on his body lift he identifies that he has the telescopic unit, he has a '91 SWB.

I am currently arguing with wreckers who claim that Sierra's (or at least Australian leaf sprung models) did not have a collapsible unit.

I have a 90 model and it has the collapsible shaft. Pretty sure that's when they changed too.

my 89 wide track had a solid shaft, if its to long grind the weld of the end and shorten it, its to easy.

Thanks heaps. I was sure that it was around 1990 as my 5/89 has the solid shaft.
