Don't know of anyone who has modded their exhaust on the DID Paj, but it looks like you will be first to do one on the Triton.
Let us know how it goes.

Well i got my exhaust on firday.. and it has made a difernce to the power.. not heaps but it does pull better from lower revs...

also found out that these new TD's run a cat convertor :? so even with jsut one very small straight thru muffler on it, it makes no noise at all

My shorty NL paj has a 3.2 Did in it with a 2.5 inch mandrel bent system and hi flow muffler, not sure if its makes a difference as i had to mod the exhaust as part of the conversion.

Anyone know if the cat is a requirement on diesels these days?

Cheers, ben

Well its stil runnin the std one as the exhaust guy reckons the the diesel ones are always heaps bigger than they need to be and would be a waste of money to change..

Also i got my muffler taken out now .. so now its jsut a straight thru 3" pipe from the turbo back and it now does make a littel noise and its definatly got more go overall..

Hi Ian,

The 3.2 is going great, no problems at all so far, put over 10k on it already with a couple of trips to the high country and coffs coast.

No regrets with doing the changeover from the s/c v6 to the Did, only let down i have found so far is probaly on the freeway/overtaking, where the petrol would blow the Did away, but then again it was supercharged!

Cant believe the difference in fuel economy though especially when 4wding. Last trip to the High country was with my brither who has a 4.0 vvti prado, did the same kays and his truck did 24.5 litres/100 and my paj did 16 litres/100. Pretty happy with that.

Have considered puitting a Dtronic or DP chip on it, as it already has a much larger intercooler than standard, an extra oil cooler and a straight through 2.5 mandrel exhaust, so the chip would probaly unleash a heap more power and take advantage of these mods but i dont know weather its worth it for the sake of compromising long term reliability.

Ian my missus has got a new NP 3.2DiD GLX auto.
I call it the "Clacker Jabber" as it's still a Jabber but goes clack, clack, clack..................
It goes very well indeed - economy is awesome 800K's + from 90ltrs no worries.
My 3.5 DOHC would beat it in outright acceleration from a standing start but not by much I can tell you. The 3.2 would have the edge on rolling acceleration though thats where they really perform with all that torque.
Down low around 2000rpm the 3.2 is also tops.
You would have to keep the 3.5 DOHC on the constant boil (and I mean 5-6000rpm) to see off a well driven 3.2.
I just luv my "clacker Jabber"

Frank,
you can roll diesels (not that either of us want to do it again) get em up right and the buggers fire - cough weeze, blow out the smelly black stuff and then putter on as though nothings happened :) Run on oily rag as well.
Love my diesel... doubt i'll got back to ulp But they aint the quickest of things - even when chipped
