Got the chance of a Vh 45 engine, clutch kit and adaptor plate to fit to a Gq patrol 5 speed manual gearbox.
So what else is involved with fitting the engine as far as :
Sump standard or modifyed ?
Radiator standard with modifyed hoses or different all together.
Alternator standard VH45 one or custom mounts patrol item.
Power steering pump, patrol or VH 45. standard location or moved.
Can the standard vh 45 computer be used. Or will it require modifying or replacing with an after market item.
Will I need to up grade the fuel pump and fuel lines ?
Will the steer box and various conecting arms etc remain or will they need to be modifyed ?
I assume that the engine mounts will need to be modifyed as will the wiring and the exsaust.

Any input would be great as I would like to know what i'm in for before starting on the project.

Is that the one set up for a rangie chassis that was on ebay?

Looked at that, it'd be cool. Every other VH45 -> patrol I've seen has the VH45 auto still on it, which seems to be a bit of a weak link.

I'm nearing the end of fitting a turboed VH45 into my GQ. I'm using a modified GQ auto which has more than enough strength even for a turboed version (with mild boost anyway) The Vh45 auto is the same as a Patrol.
I have the standard sump and it clears the diff even though the lowest part is directly above the diff.
You will need to either shift the trans etc foward or the body back to clear the firewall. You can't cut it due to the steering being in the way.
Radiator has the same outlets position as TD42. I'm getting a 3 row built and have fitted Falcon fans to it.
I've fitted a 110 amp 12v alternator in the valley and a 70 amp 24v above the right hand bank. You can fit one in the VH factory position but not with the standard braket as it will hit the chassis.
I've used a VL powr steer pump in VH position.
Steering is fine.
New engine mounts and you'll need to relocate the oil filter which is really easy with a easy mod to factory braket.
You can use the factory ECU even if you want to turbo it BUT it will take some sorting and not a lot of people know this motor in our part of the world. There's a place in the US that will do an exchange ecu to do most things. I'm running either a LINK or a Haltec (I haven't been told which yet)
There's a fair bit of fiddly stuff but the basic are pretty easy. I think I had it sitting in there with only a few hours work. ie engine mounts only.
