HID INSERT ?

i want a 50 w insert to suit a IPF 900 , going to run spread beam , to try to get a lot of side light for turning [ comp truck ] .
a. will HID give a better short distance spread of light ?
b. am i better to buy new lights rather than a insert ?

I have HID globes fitted to rally 4000 (HELLA) driving lights. 1 spread, 1 spot. I find them to be good. I never did test them with the std globes though. They where very easy to fit.
Was just a matter of drilling a hole in the back of the casing, so the wires could come out. As the back of the globe is alot larger than a std H1 or H3. But the globe went into the light itself with no mods.
As for the hole in the back I just sealed it with silicon. Did the same for the LF240's. But I havent tested them. There on my brothers car.

I put 35w HIDs in the IPF 800 on my old cruiser. The distance of the light improved, but I noticed that the light closer to the car and out to the sides improved the most - which was really good for spotting wildlife on the verges :lol:

tuf355 i got one of thse 48watt (read 50) hid kits for xgt's and yes it has improved the spread form cab close more than expected.... easy to install and greatly improved..... lights are roof mounted on gq so don't no if this imporves lighting side ways as to the front of rig..

I wouldn't bother spending the extra money on the 45w kits again, can't tell that much difference.

But the price difference when compared to the last set I got of Bushy it wasnt much.
At the time 35w ebay kits where $200-260 delivered.
50w of Bushy was $300 delivered.
Actually that is a big difference in price.
