EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Guys there has been a number of threads on this topic recently
I am currenty purchasing a halfcut from JustJap in Sydney
These guys seem to be one of the few who bring these halfs in to the country
They bring in two at a time
I have begun discussions with him regarding bringing larger quantities in

If I can get an idea of how many people are considering this it will make the job easier

Do you guys want just a halfcut and do the rest yourself
OR
Would you rather buy a complete kit (Adaptors, Engine, stripped down wiring loom, disc brakes and calipers and possibly power steering box adaptor).
I am looking at also offering stripped looms on a change over basis

All comes down to cost and what other accessories people want to put in there sierras, A lot of people you do the conversion have different circumstances.

Kits at cost sepatate to cut would be beneficial.

Good point guys
I thought that by offering a whole kit it save the hassles
That said I will bee keen to provide all or part of a kit
As for the loom, let you guys know after next weekend when I do mine

Any more info available yet? Such as pricing or delivery times etc

There must be more people interseted than have voted. But with few details available it is hard to answer things. Most Zook owners do everything on a pretty tight budget, so price is very important.

Still waiting for my halfcut to arrive :bad-words:
Once I have done mine I will be able to work out costings

Still trying to work out how to do the powersteering conversion
Would like to use the Vitara psbox to keep the cost down
The wedge type adaptor like in the Petroworks kit looks easiest

Personally i would prefer the whole half cut. This way you know your getting everything you need. It would probably work out cheaper this way too as your going to have to pay for someones labour to pull what is needed from the cut. You dont need adapters or kits to fit the G16 into a Sierra anyway.
I dont mean to hijack but I could also help here if anyone is interested in these half cuts. After a bit of convincing, my boss agreed to get a Vitara half cut in from Japan. I tell you they are really not that cheap over there. We now currently have a complete G16 16V half cut in stock, looks very nice and runs perfectly. If there is enough interest I can always look at getting more to help you guys out.

Having been through this recently, I would advise something similar to Christovers write up on powerrtseering.

American kits (Petroworks etc) are for left hand drive. ;)

I made an adaptor plate first, looked good until i went to re-install the radiator. Much easier to remove the indented backing plate to the single (rearwards) hole. Drill and sleeve two new holes and weld a plate to the outside of the chassis wall. then only a little cutting and bending of the radiator mount. The shaft is only a little bit off of straight, the rag joint absorbs this. Petroworks rag joint eliminator kit (I see the install write up on iZook, but can't find it on Petroworks' site) would be better.

None of the ones i have done have been welded in any way. About $20 worth of bolts and a bit or steel.

Bazooka, any idea of price on these cuts?

When you say no adaptors, how are you doing this? just bolting tabs to the belhousing?

i am with bazooka on this. if you have the half cut you can do the conversion without spending much more money if you are crafty enough. you may even be able to pick out some saleable parts eg.a/c. the $1600 front cut nicbeer got sounds perfect to me, can anybody else match this?

I would always go for the halfcut. No offence to anyone in the trade, but I would prefer to choose what I used for my conversion and have every grommet, bracket and wire I ever needed than get a kit and then try and figure out what else I needed based on what someone else thought I needed.

I have done two conversions, one from a cut (660 cappuccino into 1.3 sierra) and one with an engine/computer/loom (G13BB Jimny and auto into 1.3) I would have WAY preferred the cut. There were heaps of things that would have been nice to have fromt he cut and saved lots of work and chasing down bits and pieces, like setting up the tach. (still to be done  )

I am still prefered to the whole cut.

Thou getting rid of the left over bits is PITA.

The G16 16V Vitara half cut we have in stock is going for $2600. Yes many of you probably just fell off your chairs but the reality is they are not exactly cheap to buy from Japan. Seems we still have to compete with other countries wanting these things who are willing to pay a lot more than us Aussies. These half cuts are not that easy to find either but if we can get a few together then maybe we can haggle prices. The boss is heading overseas for another stock run on Friday for a week so if anyone wants I can get him to see about more of these cuts. Problem is we still have to sell the cut thats in stock before he will buy anymore. If they dont sell then no point in sourcing more is there.
The cut we have in stock is mint and has everything you could want for a Sierra conversion including the front brakes and power steering. The engine has been test run in our workshop and runs beautifully. Compression figures have also been recorded.
