i am taking my gas kit off as recommended by a carbie expert, the gq motor run very hot with lpg and fine not tune correctly can do major damage, i was lucky mine only damaged the carbie float, but i have read of people having cracked heads due to the gas
and i dont get very good economy from the gas
yes the gas is cheaper but it burns up quicker
but that just might be my gq other might disagree with me

Get a decent radiator LOL
I have a 110L gas tank and 45L fuel tank and mines a carbie and it runs sweet as on gas i find better then on petrol becuase it tuned to gas.
My temp doesn't go up or down from gas to petrol it used to when i had the dodgy orginal radiator but now i have a fairly large radatior and made a big difference.
I have my orginal carbie on my car and it has done 453,000k's and still works like a charm never a thing done to it at all.. no seals nothing..
The reason i know this my parents brought the car brand new and i brought off them last year as my first car

ok here is my experience
Owned a Ford Mav 4.2L on Dual Fuel for 5 years. In that time i found a good bloke to tune it, found some good brand of plugs and leads and stuck to them.
I had Dual Fuel but towards the end of its life i was swapping over to pure LPG. If you plan to tour with it, Dual Fuel is the way to go as there are still some places that LPG aren't available. If you want straight gas, get 2 LPG tanks, a 100L at the back where the old petty tank sits and a 60L to go under the drivers side along the chassis rail.
I had a Pointless Ignition system fitted, Extractors with a 2.5" exhaust system and the carby overhauled with Gas seals in it, With that and proper tuning i got over 450K's to the 100L gas tank around town and over 600 on the freeway, i know alot have said thats good economy and i know i was getting that as i did trips from Hornsby to Grafton a couple of times. filled her at Hornsby and then it was almost empty at Grafton, over 600K's from Hornsby.
If you do things right, you will get good results. Also about the head cracks, Petty patrols are known for it, Gas does accelerate it a bit but i ahven't met one yet that, gas or not, hasn't cracked the head around the 250,000 to 300,000K mark
The only reason i don't have this car now is i rolled it on the F3 Freeway, would still have her to this day if not for that
gas

My wagon is on dual fuel Timmy, i would not go straight gas as when you go on hols its not available everwhere.
As for tank size thats up to where you want to put it. I ran a 70lt usuable tank behind the rear seat and got 300ks out of a tank. I kept the original fuel tank under the back end, cheaper that way.
And how do they go, on the road a bit gutless, but locked in low range you cant tell the difference. And no carby fuel surge, i ran the whole nissan trials on gas, even the mud with not a problem.

Yeah Henry is right.
my old mav on LPG ran better offroad then when it was running on petty,
Would get problems on long hill climbs and descents. On a climb it would be on such an angle that it would starve the carby of fuel and u would stall, on a steep long decent the carby would flood and you would stall again.
LPG because its pressurized and sucked in under the venturi principal it can't flood the engine
