Tyre questions?

I got a new Nissan Navara D22 DX single cab, took it up the North Shore for the first time yesterday. Itr has 6.5inch stock wheels and skinny tyres and i found it hard to get through the softer stuff up towards Double Island point. So i let some air out of the tyres and it made a bit of difference.

Do you think some wider tyres on 8 inch rims would make it a better beach driver?

4give me if I misread, but it sounds like you tried to drive on sand with road pressures, had trouble, so dropped SOME of the air out? Try dropping them more.

I wouldn't bother buying new tyres till I was getting stuck with 10psi in the current ones. And i've got skinny-ish tyres, and pretty sure my Rocky would be heavier than a navara, and a hell of alot less powerfull :D

mjc85, i had the same trouble with my d22 dual cab on skinny 215 tyres, as RockyF70 said just drop tyre pressures to around 18 psi to start with, it will make a huge difference to the way it handles on the sand it worked for me, just take it easy on your turns and speed.
