Replacing the aisin carby... ?

Okay so I wanted to replace the aisin carby but seems like a bit of a hassle and I may just get it rebuilt. If anyone can give me some feedback on what's a good way to go I'd appreciate it as I'm sort of overwhelmed with choice, although the difficulty in trackign down some options narrows it down.
The Holley 180 is discontinued, haven't been able to find one and from what I heard Weber closed down so they're getting rare. I have tracked down a rebuilt Weber 32/36 though and can get an adaptor plate.
Now I don't have any personal experience with them as of yet, could you still get different sized jets for them and if so what sizes work well for the stock engine?
Another option that seemed promising is a
Nikki that bolts straight on. That looks good but I have no idea where to find one. Looks promising as it doesn't seem to have the richness/leaning issue of the weber/holley.
Also read about using a Swift or Vitara intake manifold. Does anyone know what model/year swift have TBI and the G13 ?
I've been trying to find smashed up and/or unlicensed swifts and all seem to have carbies and 1L engines.
Otherwise the good old rebuild of the original.
Main reason I want to ditch it is the emissions stuff on it makes it too complex really for a simple operation, suck air through and squirt fuel in.
I've even had a call out mechanic have trouble with it as it's well beyond my own abilities to fix and the backyard mechanics I know, you know the mates, dads, friend of a friends uncle that all want to give it a go ?

Don't carolla one flood easy on angles? Justt what i have heard!
When you said they get the nikki ones off excels and stuff doe's that mean we could go to a wrecker and get that carb and it will bolt straight on?

My rolla one didnt flood that i remember. was running rich but it was never tuned right.
btw, rolla ones are also aisin carbs so some parts do swap over in conversion (eg fuel pickup)

i'm sure people had good results with webbers from the old Ford Escorts, they were a little 2 barrel one i think, worked well on angles.

Take your carby off and hand it to a pro to rebuild it. Zuk carby's are very good when done properly and for the sake of $200 max, it's not worth arsing about with other options....except EFI

Whos your carby specialist, I havn't had a quote under $350 + parts ... And yeah the Corolla ones bolt up I had one on from a KE30 - but it blew a powervalve somehow ... and I put the stock one back on.

Was quoted $180 to start with when I got mine done and had to buy a second carby from a wreckers as my auto choke was stuffed.
$350 plus parts? Does it come with a pair of tits?

The thing about a 1lt swift isi'm sure it still sucks the same as a 1.3lt. After all they have the same bore and stroke (74x77x3=993cc) just one less cylinder... but each cylinder gulps the same amount of air
Mk1 3cyl swifts and barinas (around 83-85) may have manual chokes (The SA310 manual gives info on both automatic/manual chokes depending on specification)
Only other idea (not in any searches) would be a Daihaitsu charade 1lt carb. It has a different bore and stroke to a swift but displaces the same total [76x73]x3=
993cc
I guy in europe wrote up a how to thread

Well that's the main downside to me of the stock one... needs a pro to tinker with it. At the moment it's running fine on road but once it gets bumped around off road it has all sorts of problems and as I said earlier, neither me, my mate and other people can deal with it properly.
I'm not the only one that feels this way, a heap of poms on one of their 4by forums hate it, a spanish reviewer said it's junk and likes the nikki option, the writer of the daihatsu swap doesn't like it. I don't like it myself and that opinion seems to be fairly common.
I would go with a rebuilt it if I could get it for this apparent $200 but quotes so far have been in the $400 range. That comes with a beer gut and man tits.
A weber is cheaper than a rebuild and a lot easier for someone of my ability to tune and repair in a tight spot. Same goes for other bolt-on or easily made to fit carbies.
Santos what I meant was an intake manifold swap, the 1Ls don't have the G13. However that may be something to think about as swifts/daihatsus are dirt cheap.

That's why i said 1lt swift. it's a g10. The f10 4cyl in 1lt sierras don't match up manifold or carb.
The g10 carb should fit on the 1.3l manifold. One last option is i think the mazda 121's from 87-89 had manual choke for the uk market... (1324cc engine) need to check tht manual (i have a lot of interests)

Guess I got lucky. Both in price and avoiding sweaty man tits

if your interested in the NIKKI carbs they are very common and easy to find.
all the early mazdas used them. 626 929 etc etc
very good carbs...well the 4 barrel ones on rotors are anyway.

im told nikkis off geminis bolt straight on, my 4k carby runs good when the car is on its side or on its nose, but when i go up an incline steeper than about 30 degrees and it floods out the bowl breathers with 2" fuel hose extensions on them.

Well thanks for that offer, ygpm.
Funny story, thought I'd drop the fuel tank and clean it out before I fit anything new. The bastard was completely spotless inside, looked brand new.
