15in wheels on late (1998) Vitara - 16in wheels standard

Hi all,

I'm considering buying a 1998 SWB Vitara.

I have owned many Vitaras, but never one that has had 16in wheels as standard. You will be familiar with the alloys they come with.

I want to fit a set of 15in wheels and bigger tyres that I already have to whatever Vitara I buy, and I noticed that the discs in this model seem bigger than my previous cars. They certainly stop bucketloads better!

Accordingly, does anyone know if 15in wheels will fit on late model Vitaras that came standard with 16in wheels?

Any advice is appreciated.

Regards,

Adam

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I know I could take a shave off the calipers with the angle grinder, no problems, but I wasn't sure about the diameter of the disc, and the clearance over the outside of the caliper, as opposed to the front (side) face of it (which I kinda knew I would have to shave a bit).

Now THAT's what I wanted to hear!!

Was there any persuading involved, Atari?

Spacers maybe?

... or just a subtle shave with the grinder?

Cheers mate. Appreciate the advice.

I just went and tried the rims on a couple at the wreckers too. They fit well even on GV brakes, with a tiny bit of shaving on the outside of the caliper.

Looks like its a go.

Thanks again.
