I have a 2002 Toyota Hilux dual cab (see avatar <--- )and would like to know what type / size stereo speakers people have been fitting in there front and rear doors.

I dont have speakers in the rear doors, but thought I'd put some in as the rear door seems to have the speaker vents and housing, anyone had any probs fitting them....

My CD has packed it in so I thought I’d upgrade the speakers while I’m at it…

Cheers.

6" speakers should fit no worries and 6x9's might fit. have you talked to your local audio shop?

6" speakers fit in the front doors as thats whats in there from the factory. I have no idea about the rear doors. But I have 6" in the back of my xtra cab aswell.

I put new 6" in the front doors and temporarily moved the standard front ones to the back. Very easy to do 6x9 would be a little harder but 6" drop straight in.

If you have a bit of room behind the seats, as I did, I made some boxes up that were thin, and put some 6x9's in them.

I then gave it really long speaker wire, so when i'm camping, I take my speakers outside, and the sound is way better. Great for listening to music around the fire.

I put sony 6 inch splits up front and mtx 6 inch 2 ways in the rear doors. Will get one of those slimline pioneer subs in the near future so I can do away with the Kicker sitting on the back seat :D

I was thinking the same.......

But I usually dont hose out Tubby..... we just have a huge dust problem.

It looks like 6 inch all round for ease of fitting.... I'm not sure if I can bother putting speakers up the back of the seat or in my case the storage floor......

Much appriciated guys

I was wondering...

How long do you guys get out of your speakers.....

I have the toyota factory and the front right is stuffed, but I know I got that one wet

But the CD player has packed it in (Pioneer) radio still going so I presume it is dust etc inside the unit.....

Had the system 5 years and am wondering if thats good.

Six inch speakers should fit no worries. I run 2 sets of MB Quartz Splits in my 80 and love them for clarity (6.5 inch) then you could just run some 2 way 6 inchs in the rear for fill.

Here's a link to some cheap splitson ebay, I bought 2 sets from these guys (no affiliation) cos in the shops they were 4 times the price. I have drowned a set of MB quartz 6.5 inch 2 way speakers half a dozen times in the Middy and they still sound sweet. Just remember if you are running splits to mount the cross over high.
