Bolts for Spring Fixed Mount

Just wondering what sort of bolts should be used in the fixed mount end of the leaf springs on my sierra. Have just replaced my springs and had to cut the old bolt out due to the bolt rusting to the crush tube. Have been told that you need special bolts like they come with from factory due to the type of load the bolt is under. Is this important or are high tensile 8.8's good enough for the job? Have been using high tens for shackle end for quite a while...is that the wrong thing to be doing too?

1/2"

why not put UNF on one side and Witworth on the other, then you would need 3 diferent sets of tools to work on your car!
