Whats the difference between 2K primer and 2 pack epoxy primer. A guy advised me when painting these fibreglass panels I have to key the panels. Then panel wipe, apply 2pack epoxy primer then you can finish in whatever paint you want. Any comments helpful.

Theres no real difference mate it's just some paint companies like to try and confuse you thats all. Some paint companies call there self etching primers epoxy primers and there standard primers 2k primer. Epoxy primers are more used in industrial type aplacations rather then automotive.

These days most 2k primers are self etching but if your only priming fibreglass you wouldn't require an etch primer anyway.

Keying a panel is just another name for sanding the panel down prior to priming. I would recomend you rub the panels down with something around P240 to know finer then P320 prior to painting. Make you you don't rub through the gell coat either.

Once it's rubed down you can then clean the panel with panel wipe which is another name for wax & grease remover. Make sure you remove it all with properly and use clean rags.

Cheers Mick.
