diff lock problem?

hi i just installed a rear lockright locker to my v6 4runner, now when i take off from the lights it feels like there is a little free play and then it takes off, is this normal for a lockright? what could be the problem?

the one in my fj40 feels tight.

Andrew, I'm absolutely astounded that you didn't recommend an ARB airlocker installed by a very reputable diff place close to you
