Idling problems

I took my J20a vitara for a bit of a run today and afterwards the idling has started playing up.
It will rev up to around 2500rpm, then suddenly cut down to 1500 and go straight back up to 2500 rpm every 3-5 seconds.
Any ideas?

do you have aircon on at the time.. any other accessories?
was the vitara sitting there for ages.. crap in the fuel? blocked idle jets etc?
there have been a ton of posts on carby issues and idling issues in the past.. may be handy to do a few searches mate.
cheers

Nah smiley, checked around the forum first, couldnt find anything useful.
Still dont know what caused it since it is fuel injected, no air con (roof off provides enough air) or other acc's, runs as a daily driver, etc, etc.
maybe just some crap in the exhaust or something was making it run harder, at least it fixed itself after a few hours of driving this arvo.
i wish all problems were fixed as easily....

Could be a vacuum leak around the inlet, maybe a good idea to check the lines. It could also be any one of a few sensors playing up, TPS springs to mind as does the valves in the TB been worn or clogged with shit.
Glad to hear its sorted itself.

Had a thorough look at it this morning and found the culprit.
One of the vacuum hoses had come a bit loose, and was letting too much air in, although some would say it had come all the way off
. Chucked it back on and it's as good as new, if you ignore all the battle scars and the mud in the carpet (the only bad thing about having a soft top).
I wish i had checked your post earlier v840, would've saved me a bit of stuffing round in this damn heat. Thanks anyway.
Now where did that cold beer go...?
