Homemade Shackel Question

Hi all,
I'm looking at making my own shackels, (not necessarily extended as i dont have the shocks for it, maybe 15-20mm)
as mine are slightly twisted. I was thinking of something like 6x40mm steel.
Question is do i need to weld a block in the middle like they do on the extended shackels
or can i just use the steel like the standard ones?

Thanks Pep

No weld in the middle will be fine if you aren't going over normal size, but as you twisted the last pair you may as well.

why are they slightly twisted? If you managed to twist the shackles what other damage have you done? I can't see how you could twist some standard shackles unless you were involved in a collision of some sort. Normal use, even hard 4wding shouldn't twist a shackle.

Ok Maybe twisted was the incorect term
they are not hagging perfectly straight down
(leaning a little towards the centre of the car), probably more the bushes then anything else and a little bit of it
is a small collision with a rock wall, as i reversed down it just caught the edge of the shackle.
as i now have new bushes to go in i thought i'd make some stronger shackels

I used 10mm x50mm flat stock and didnt use a middle brace. Works fine and havnt had any troubles to date.

I used 5 or 6mm thick steel, 2" longer than stock (1" lift) without a brace, and they were ok on my Zook.
