Devastating gearbox problems

Hi all,
I drive an NA Pajero with a 4D56 TD engine in it. My car is not necessarily a bad car, but I seem to be going through gearboxes like there is no tomorrow. I am coming up to the time when I will be replacing the 4th gearbox in 4 years... I don't want to sell my car but it may be the only option What do I have to do to prolong the life of my gearboxes? I have been reading other forum entries on other Mitsubishi gearboxes lasting 150-200,000K but mine seldom last more than 2 years So what is it that I am doing wrong? I am constantly checking my fuel economy figures so it's not like I drive to fast or anything and I maintain my car every 10,000k. Do I sell it and loose thousands and thousands of dollars or do I try to fix it again... Is there any other (eg later model gearboxes) boxes that will be more reliable, is there anything else I should know? Where is the best place to take my car in Melbourne? Thanks in advance, Sam
