hi guys, I seem to be having a little trouble with the idling on a ser1 v8 disco 98 mod. When i start it up in the morning the idle will sit at around 1500 - 2000 rpms. this doesnt happen all the time, some mornings it will be fine. Every now and then it will idle this high if it has not been driven for around an hour or so. When it idles high i just turn the car off and on a couple of times and it just go's away. Bloddy thing.

If anybody knows what the possible cause is please let me know as it is starting to drive me crazy.

cheers. Steve.

try removing the stepper motor from the plenum and giving it a clean. Its the black thing screwed into the drivers side of the plenum, up the back, with a 4 wire plug going into it. They tend to get gunked up, and stick a bit. Pull it out, and give it a good clean with metho or petrol, and see how you go.

And clean the housing with a cotton bud, and check that the bolts that hold the housing onto the plenum are tight. They are allan keys.
Also take off the hose from the airflow meter to the throttlebody, and clean all around the throttle blade, and the hose from the oil breather where it goes into the throttle housing. Use some carby cleaner.
