Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi all, I've been searching for ages but han't found what I'm after!

I've got a 1992 LWB Vitara and was wondering if I can fit 235/75/15 BFGoodrich M/Ts under it with a small suspension lift and not have rubbing!

The tire shop said I can but I thought I better check before I commit.

Also, I thought my stock Vitara rims were 5.5 " but the beaurepairs bloke said they were 6"s and that they will take the tires fine.

Does this sound OK and if mine are 5.5" rims will it be safe to run the tires on them. I know people do regardless but will it be safe to run them

i run 30x9.5x15's on my stock vitara rims lol i have never had a problem with them i only let them down to 20psi offroad (have let them down to 15 tho) but just to be safe from it comming off the bead as i dont even run tubes!!!! which reminds me i really should get some tubes for them lol

235/75R15's should be fine. They are as big as you can go without any lift. As different tyre brands/patterns vary slightly in size you may at the worst get some very slight rubbing that can be sorted pretty easily. You should have 5.5" wide rims as stock but if you have 6" enjoy although I have had a tyre shop tell me my 5.5" were 6'" wide when they weren't. I have had 33x9.5'son the stock 5.5" rims and they were fine, not legal but fine.

What are you running as a road pressure then? 20psi should be about right for on the road and I'd air them down to at least 15psi offroad. You should be fine at 10-12psi if you want, without tubes. You may enjoy the ride and the capabilities more with a little less air, you're not driving a Patrol.

Maybe not the same thing but my street preassure is 22psi on a Sierra & 10psi offroad. 22 it the highest pressure that the tyre has a full width contact patch, more than that it runs in the center 1/3 of the tyre only.

So I should be fine to go with them then.

The plan was originally to go with 30"s and a 25mm body lift but I might go the 25mm lift and the 235/75s and keep it closer to legan and better for touring.

Why bother with a BL if they fit properly without ? (if they hit then add the lift)

Are you in Riverton the town located in SA, if you are i have 235/75r15 MTRs and offset sunnies that u can buy cheaper than new with little wear.

i run 30psi on the road front and rear this looks to me like the tyre is wearing evenly and yea i thought i could run it a little lower than that but i was just being on the safe side so do you thing i should run less on the road say 25psi and 10-15psi offroad? cheers hope im not thread jacking to much

might be a bit of a drive from perth

thats what i thought, he could have been from queensland aswell according to where is, i was just going by his avatar(?). Rims are cheap as i got mine for $40 new with the F100 offset. There are some sweet DD vitaras on pirate4x4.com at the moment if you need some bad influences .

Thanks for that guys, Looks like I'll go ahead with them then and probably won't bother with the body lift unless I do more damage to the sills. What sort of offset do I have and what do the F100s have?
