Hi guys... got the old standard sealed beam units on the front of my hilux ute... wanted to convert them to H4s.... i see some H4 conversion kits on ebay for around ~$100... but was wondering is it hard to convert some H4s out of something else and bolt on the front? If not then H4s from what exactly? I think the rectangular lights out of the old TD cortinas were H4s? would they convert ok? anyone else done this?

Cheers

u can buy new rectangle headlights the same size with the H4 bulb for $20 ea. 7x4 i think they are. They fit exactly the same as way standard ones.

I have used cheap H4's (the $20 ones) and expensive cibie units .. I will take the cibie any day, they last longer and give a much better spread of light, and the glass seems to be so much tougher ..

Also look at upgrading your loom to you headlights, even the old sealed beams with 13 volts getting to em are very very acceptable, and dont fill up with water during the deeper crossings.
