I think he must mean M/T. As in the Mongrels. cause $140 for MTR's is unheard of :? And when I enquired Mongrels where around that price ($150 ish actually i think)

Just on the mongrels, I wouldn't get them if your going to be driving on the blacktop alot. I had Motorway ground hogs and they wore like crazy, only lasted 1 year and they where near bald  20 000k's maybe at the most, and the pattern wasn't anywhere near as aggressive as the Mongrels.

I paid 200 odd a tyre fitted for the Buckshots that's 33x12.5x15 :D , there is no way i would pay that for a remold, and i did have mates who worked for motorway, and they said if you go over 80 odd k an hour ya mad on ANY remold.

O n i just got onto the website for motorway mongrels and the 32inch has a 'MF' sign beside not a RM or RT, this means it is a monoform whateva the f*k that is...

MF is monoform, unlike a retread where they just replace the tread part of the tyre, a monoform tyre has new rubber bead to bead, Ive run 32" mongrels on my GQ on anf off for a bit over a year, in the dry they arn't too bad but in th wet, its like learning to drive again. Mine have worn very weill I think, they have done around 12,000kms and are about half worn. Motorways warranty is great too the have a lifetime warranty that basicly guarantees they wont fall apart or delaminate, I actually had one tyre start to delaminate though, a steel belt from the original tyre carcase somehow managed to come though the outer rubber and air got inbetween the original carcase anf the new rubber. They replaced in with out any questions asked.

Pic of damaged tyre after pumping it up, you can see the lumps where the air in between the original and new rubber is.

(EDIT: It actually looks a lot worse in the photo than what is actually was)

Oh tru, see that, thanks alot for clearing the whole thing up, only 17 so bit hard for me to understand all this crap haha, so you run yours day to day hay? I wos told no faster than 80 k's an hour or youd have to have a death wish.. ive got a lux too so it would have a better wear rate i presume because of the wieght?

Yeah I run them every day most of the time, swap back to road tyres when the noise really really annoys me, the noise is probably the worse thing about them. I would recommend going for a drive in a car that has then on it before you buy them, especially if they are going to be your only set of tyres. On the side wall it says max 120kph, I havn't had mine above 110, but when the tyre did fail it was while doing 100kph for about an hour, I dont know whether the speed was a factor in the tyre coming apart or not.

yeh nah they wont be an everyday tire.. i think i might not get them ans just keep on saving for the mtr's.. just so i dont have to worry bout changing tires and all that monoform bullshit.. you think the mtr's would be better for a daily driver? Cheers

I run MTR's on my zook as my road tyres. I am very happy with them. Until i got my swampers they were used offroad, and in the rocks were excellent. The only place i found them wanting was in sloppy mud, which is crap anyway. Good tyre IMHO. Many others seem to be fans of them too.

Layto....

I cant comment on MTR's compared to Mongrels as I havn't been 4wding with anyone who has them. To me they seem like a completely different type of tyre, maybe you should decide based on what sort of driving you do.

Did you find any yet? Or change your mind? If your still looking, Tyrepower Quakers Hill got me my motorway ground Hogs when i had em. Failing that, go round to Tate's tires in Riverstone, speak to Ron :D Don't know if they can get them or not but he knows his stuff.

marks and wallings are the people doing motorway in sydney these days, about 12 months ago the guy that was running the sydney opporation, wont name him, had a falling out with motoway, I understand the bloke is still in the tyre bussiness with someone else, but effectivly marks and walling are the exclusive distributors for NSW.

if anyone is looking for them try mostly any place that either repairs taxis or does taxi tyre work as they use them heaps on them

cant comment on the life of the mongrels but the muds bang for buck were reasonable. ran a set on the GU bafore we started selling them, and were fine for the work I did with them, sold a few sets and no complaints

for a 31 to 33 size tyre for cheap I would recomend the buckshots or the sumitomos if you can still find someone to do the right price on them

oh and if you want to go the mongrels mostly be prepared to wait they get most o the carcesses from the states and the supply is often lacking in either correct sizes or usable quality particularily in the imperial sizes, metrics are not to bad as they have an ok local supply
