That'd do the job fine for him i'd be using a 4WD one (possably stronger)

So with the surf box from a simmiler year model do you have to still use the mounting plate or is it just the same as a ifs lux box Hope you understand what i'm asking :?

The surf box is the same as an IFS hilux. You will need to make or buy from Superior eng. a strenghing plate to weld on the chasis. One of the holes in the chasis you use to bolt the new box to, one will bolt to the top of the plate which is above the chasis and the other one you will need to drill out the chasis and weld in a crush bar ( or plate both sides).
Don't forget the 80 series pitman arm.

Hope this helps.

Yeah i just thought if the surf box fitted without the plate it'd be a heap easyier to do thanks for ruling that shortcut out :?

when it comes to your steering, the term shortcut should not be used

It'd be stronger and DOT would like it better than just slaping a flat plate on the chassis like some have done and then having it break away BUB's is one of the best i've seen neat tidy and look half factory something along the lines of how mine is going to be done and shortcut is why i don't want to use a welded fliped arm
