Hi guys.
A friend of mine has a problem with her 1990 Nissan Patrol high roof wagon 4.2td manual import with standard height suspension.
Problem is that front end shakes between 75-80km/h. Does not happen every time. The shake is felt through the steering wheel. Has been happening for over six months.
They have tried the following:
Had wheel alignment/balance
Tried new wheels and tyres
Replaced tie rod ends and the bar that link the two ends.
Replaced steering damper
Shocks been checked
Engine and gearbox mounts checked
Replaced front diff centre with 2nd hand unit. Someting about worn bushes causing axles to move about but didn't help.
Anyone else got any ideas? She is about ready to push it off a cliff.
Thanks.

Apparently these have been replaced already. I'll check for myself when I see it again though. Thanks.

sounds like your friend got ripped in regards to the second hand centre!
anyhow,
change the radius arm bushes on the chassis and the diff end, replace panhard bushes, check the swivel hub bearings and the wheel bearings.
and then if the vehicle has a lift kit over " check the caster angle.
if you check all these and rectify them you will eliminate wobble.

I had the same issue changed everything as i had done the Panard rods 20 000klms ago, wanted to shove it off a cliff. I bought under much distrust (been told it would fix it didnt quite believe it) a new adjustable panard rod with new bushs and lost 70% of the shake straight up. I then changed the BF Goodrich tyres to Yokos and got rid off the rest . Drives like a dream now. Went to a Mudder BFG and still no shakes yet but iv have been told BFG tyres are bad for shakes .
PS> i went to EFS adjustable panard rod. $250 ish but well worth it.
