Agreed, I just put a set of 48 watters i got as a kit and put them in my XGT's. They were fantastic beforehand, but after putting the HID's in there is no way i could go back.Ruffy wrote:But i've got kits ($200 bucks) from ebay in my Narva's, my IPF's, and my EF high beams. Once you've had them you wont go back. Do yourself a favour and spend a couple of hunjy on a kit and fit them in your existing lights.
iv got mates who have put the HIDs kits in the light force and there nuts.Ruffy wrote:tuff4runner wrote: are HIDs worth the money
Shit yeah.........
You've obviously never driven behind them..... Personally i wouldn't fork out 2G for a set of lightforce HID's. But i've got kits ($200 bucks) from ebay in my Narva's, my IPF's, and my EF high beams.
4500k to 6000k are best but personally i reckon it depends on the person.Big Red Toy wrote:Yep HID's Rock!
Not the big debate!
What to get
4500k... 5000k.... 6000k....8000k...... etc..
Personally 4500k all the way! they are by far the whitest & brightest
I had a set of them in my standard headlights both hi & low beams & they rock but one died on me & havn't got round to fixing it yet
I have a set of 45w 5000k in some narva's and yeah they are good, but too blue already
So yeah hids are the go
I originally put my HID kits in old rally 1000's. The difference it made was phenominal. I'd suggest you could convert anything you are using and you would be amazed at the difference. Simply just the color of the light is a pleasure to drive behind.AJFeroza wrote:Probably been answered before, but what is the minimum size Driving light that can be/is worth modding to HID?
As mentioned plenty of times LF XGT require a special bracket for the globe. Other than that the HID globes come in all forms, H1 H2 H3 H4 H7 are most common. The only thing is that the HID globe is longer in the body rearward of it's mounting point therefore MOST driving lights require a hole to be drilled in the rear housing to allow for the extra length globe.GQBear wrote:Can any halogen light be upgraded using HID kit?? I've got 4x Hella Rallye 4000's, can these be converted? Is HID the same or as good as Xenon gas lamps?
Cool, thanks buddy. So what your're saying is it's a HID globe. Doesn't need the ballast thingy, etc. which xenons and predators, etc. use. Are these globes heaps better than, say, the 'Phillips blue'?Ruffy wrote:I originally put my HID kits in old rally 1000's. The difference it made was phenominal. HID (High intesity discharge) are Xenon filled globes with an arc ignition. Do not be confused with the Xenon filled globes that run a normal tungsten or quartz filament. These are the same as a halogen globe only filled with Xenon gas.
Hope this help. I would suggest if you are interested but not confident in yourself then call Steve at ON4TOU. Vic. 5977 7968.

This is a good question, cos at those prices you wouldn't want to shatter a globeJimbo wrote:How do the HID globes stand up after being dunked in water and mud?
No he isnt. What he is saying is dont confuse the normal gas filled globe with a HID gas filled globe that needs the ballast to create the electric charge to excite the gas.GQ Bear wrote:Cool, thanks buddy. What he said!!midi73 wrote:No he isnt. What he is saying is dont confuse the normal gas filled globe with a HID gas filled globe that needs the ballast to create the electric charge to excite the gas.
The normal globe still has the filament in the globe that lights up, the gas just helps it burn a little brighter.
The HID ballast creaates a tonne more electrical current than what comes from your cars power source then fires up the gas creating a bloody brite light.
Clean water is ok but as soon as u get residue on the globe ie: mud it will heat this residue up and will burn thru the glass where dirty. Basically creates a hot spot on the globe until it burns. Like oil from your hands if u touch the lamps!Jimbo wrote:How do the HID globes stand up after being dunked in water and mud?
I have a set of Hella 4000's with the bitdistribuition 50w kit in them. I am pretty happy with them. They will be moved over to the comp car for the paj challenge.GQ Bear wrote:Can any halogen light be upgraded using HID kit?? I've got 4x Hella Rallye 4000's, can these be converted? Where can you get a H2 HID bulb, never seen them aroundRuffy wrote: As mentioned plenty of times LF XGT require a special bracket for the globe. Other than that the HID globes come in all forms, H1 H2 H3 H4 H7 are most common.
Basicly any light that is a good light with standard bulbs will be a better light with HIDs in them.mjc85 wrote:I'm looking to get some lights but don't wanna spend $2k on LF HID's. What lights are a good starting base to buy and then swap in some HID bulbs? And is that all you need to do? (swap bulbs) ?
