Outer Limits 4x4 Board

As the overall winers of the Navrun series we took out the first prize of a set of Procomp tyres.

My question is what tyre would people recomend. They will be going on the below GU so they will be doing a lot of touring and some hard stuff. They can be any size. I already have a set of 35 inch claws for the extreme stuff.

I am interested in peoples opinions.

And for Hobsy and Locky, no l do not want a set of 31 inch highway terains.

XTERRAINS!

I've been running plain jane 35" ProCOmp muddies for about 4 years now....they've been a darn fine tyre....They don't perform as well as the swampers offroad - but they do pretty darn well none-the-less.....and do fine onroad......I guess I'd go the Xterrains though now (they weren't available when I got mine).......

Pro Comp are awesome..

they can get just about any tyre you want..

but X-Terrains are Pro Comp brand, and awesome..

i run pro comp-xterrains and i would highly reccomend them. the only problem i have had is................................................................................................ "still thinking"............................................. oh i can't think of one they are great. way better than claws because claws run a much harder compound because the lugs are so close together and without a hard compound the lugs would rip off. now on wet and muddy rocks softer compound is excellent. i have done around 15000ks on mine now and can only just measure about .5mm of wear on the front and about 1mm on the rear (as i was running an auto locker) .

Sounds like the way to go so l ordered a set of 35 inch x-terains.

I figured since your original topic was about procomps I was wandering if anyone could tell me what the sidewalls on the xterrains are like.
I remember reading something somewhere that they are really easy to tear. I am not trying to be negative at all (by the way congrats on the prise drafty!) i was just wondering if anyone had any info on them as I will be looking for a set of 37's one day soon and the exterains where an option.
I know softer compounds have there place and can see the advantages, but I know of a set of new baja claws that are pretty ripped after only a couple of outings.

very tough! one of the only on\off road tyres they recomend to let the preasures down. you can even get a lifetime waranty (if you damage the tyre beyond repare they will replace it) assuming you've done the right thing and aired down . I drove hard along the edge of a tree butt and drove the sharp edges into my beed and broke off the timber. not a mark on the side wall. mates have cringed following me on some very knarley rocky trails with the side walls flexing and slipping onto some pretty sharp rock edges still no damage!

I dont wanna sound like a wingging c@nt but you can buy three and get one free deal in the US but it doesnt apply hear, thats shocks as well i recon that it shouldnt cost the retailer any more just profit margin on each tyre any thoughts P.S the add in the PETERSONS mag says ''OFFER GOOD AT PARTICIPATING PROCOMP DEALERS WORLD WIDE'' so what goes

Sorry no go, the allterains on the GU have about 3mm of tread left on them, l did consider it though.

they work really well let right down..

Mate, I got my ProComp MTs a couple of years ago from G&J Gears in Mornington...and it was the "Buy 3, get 4" deal that made me get the ProComps over another brand...

I bought my 35 x12.5 x15 x-terrains from a dealer in tassie paid $320 each for them
