Have a few questions with regards to doing a donk swap in my Datsun...

Options that I am considering are GQ 4.2 with turbo & intercooler or a 6.5 Chev. I have weighed up all other things (cost, reliability etc.) , but a few technical Q's have come up.

Can you fit an engine into a car when the engine is older than the car? (eg. 1995 Engine into 2000 Car?). In NSW. With Engineers certificate of course, because it's a different motor to when the vehicle was made and complianced for.

The answer to this may be the answer to my choice!

Any other tips would be appreciated. Spanners will be turning next weekend...

you can fit a 1900 engine to a car, but will it be legal is another question...

Only if it meets emissions I think it is.. so chances are probably not

In NSW the engine MUST be the same age or newer than the vehicle.
Source- Brunswick Diesel.

In QLD I thought engine could be older than car but had to meet the cars emission standards. If the engine is newer than the car it had to meet the engines emission standards. Basically, the newest components standards must be met.....
