Are you happy with the build quallity? does it tow and track well? do you think it was good value? is it easy to erect and pull down? did u get the brake option? what sort of weight is you trailer when loaded? any other general impressions on quality or design you may have! Any thing you would change?
Cheers SASS

I am happy with the build quality.
It tows and tracks fine. Very easy to reverse. I asked for an axle width and hubs to suit my Discovery. I supplied the wheels.
No brakes on mine. Might do it myself one day but I haven't found them necessary so far.
It apparently weighs 520kg unloaded. No idea what loaded weight is.
The locks on the front box are very weak. I misplaced my keys for it last trip and the locks were easier to unlock (permanently) with a 300mm shifter than with the key. I'm replacing the latches with the same type but padlock ones.
I've only used it twice. Five days at Double Island in the Freshwater campground and 3 days at Mon Repos.
I got the full mozzie screened annex walls, water tank, all the extra poles, bigger jockey wheel, tow hitch tube in back of trailer for the bike rack, extra jerry holder. I think that was it.
A friend who has one says he wishes he got the extra window but after two Summer trips I have not found it at all necessary. In fact I have yet to open the big end wall window at night. Might be handy if it rains and you have to close up though as it is on the protected annex side so could stay open.
We got the water tank and no kitchen as I am building a better one myself. So the water tank has an outlet hose that goes to just under the tailgate and has a hose connector on it. It is one of the stop flow ones when not connected to anything. However as the tank is not pressurised I assume the stop flow thing does not work so when the tank is full it dribbles out the hose. I went to Bunnings yesterday to get some plumbing bits for the kitchen and I also go an inline tap I can turn off when travelling. The tap cost $2.50 so it is a good cheap fix I think.
I'm doing the 12v system myself too. So far I have a light in the tent and another in the annex but I haven't figured out the best option to secure a battery to the rear RHS corner yet. I want a steel battery box so it can also contain some switches, fuses and circuit breakers etc.
I have the standard tow hitch for now. Wouldn't have been able to open the rear door on the Disco with the AT35 if I turn the tow hitch upside down for more clearance I think. I'm probably going to get an Orac for its low profile.
As we ordered ours just after the last camping show it was an approx 2 month wait. Not sure what current times are but we were quoted 1 month before the show.
These are some pics from our Double Island trip and in our driveway.
I was a little concerned about this shackle setup at first but after looking at the suspension pics on the suppliers website it is how it is supposed to be. It works fine so I guess it is okay.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post pics utemad. Im thinking that i really cant go to wrong with a cusom line for the price!!! im going to do the same and build my own kitchen (cant see the value in paying $250 for a box on the gate) so post up some pics as you go ill be very interested!!!! If u dont mind me asking what did u pay drive away?

That is all the pics I have at the moment. I didn't use the annex walls on the Mon Repos trip but didn't get any pics of it like that.
I paid $7785 all up. However to get the Land Rover setup they took $75 off their price and I supplied the wheels/tyres. So to get it drive away I really paid $7785 to Customline and $275 for the wheels/tyres. So $8060 all up.
Originally we were only going to get the kitchen end wall. However at the camping show my wife liked the full annex with the mozzie screens. It added a fair bit of cost as it is a $1300 option however during our first trip it rained for 3 days and with three adults living in it the extra protected area was great. The full walls included the under tailgate wind strip bit.
The friend of mine who also has one has had it for about 2 years and has been offered more than he paid for it and it isn't even for sale!

My mate has one which he bought 2.5 years ago. Here it is when we went up to double island point about 12 months ago:
He got it galvanised, has the annex walls, kitchen etc. I think he paid about $7500 all up because he ordered is at the Brisbane Caravanning show and got a discount.
I believe that Castaway Campers at sumner park are a little bit cheaper though:

I opted to not go with a camper and this is what i use, but i can just bolt a camper to it down the track if i want (customline can do this

At the show in 2006 they were offering a free kitchen box, under tailgate canvas flap, shade cloth floor. I didn't get it as I ordered it just after the show. However I got the flap thrown in and didn't want the box. Got plenty of shade cloth so that is no worry either.
My mate got his as a demonstrator. It was the one that had been used at the shows so he got his with a fair few options for a very good price.
I was going to get mine galvinised but my Dad who is an engineer reckoned it was a waste of money given the amount of time it will get used versus locked up in the shed.
Keep up the good work G_Loomis

I'm thinking of making a triple jerry can holder between the A frame box and the drawbar. Considering I drive a Rover V8. This is an option from Customline but I would prefer to make my own removable one.
When packing up I put all the canvas under the top cover but also put the pole bag under there too. Just lay it down on the drivers side beside the mattress with the pointy ends pointing to the rear. Also leave the annex roof zipped on and just lay it over the tent roof before folding the tent up.
There is still room under there if I ever need to put something else under the top cover.

So loomis what your trying to tell me is you can get outers members a good deal then?
Where are you based? Is the canvas pre shrunk? Is there an aplication like scotch guarding i should look at for the canvas?
Im looking at getting another window between the door opening and the bed. Do you think its worth it? The way i see it is the more openings the more breeze i get on a hot night. any info would be apprecieated. Cheers Sass

Why not gal it utemad? What are the down sides of gal? As far as i see it its a $450 investment in not having to worry about rust on your $7000+ camper. But Im no engineer, what reasons did your oldman give?

In the way of prices I have no control over that as I do the work for Dave (customline) on a contract basis.
As for trying to keep the canvas clean...being carefull is your only real option...If the dirt doesnt come off with water, it aint coming off! NEVER use chemicals to try and clean canvas as all you will do is destroy the wax coating leaving it not-so-waterproof!
In regards to the extra window...the more the merrier I say...When I made mine I put a window in wherever one would fit! There is no such thing as too many windows.
Utemad : I would strongly suggest AGAINST leaving the annex zipped onto the top whilst not in use. All it takes is for one zip tooth to be knocked off and the whole zip will need replacing. And if it happens to be the side of the zip that attaches to the top...$$$$$$
It takes under a minute to unzip the awning...it could save you $$ in the longrun!

I don't know of any downsides. The only reason being is it is $450 worth of gal when you don't need really need it. My reasoning is that my cars have spent many many days and nights on the beach and proper cleaning and some lanolin spray is all they need to be rust free. So why spend the $450?

Okay thanks for the tip. Do you mean when not in use as in when packed away or just slung over the top of the tent when tent in use but the annex is not needed. I am only putting it over the top in order to fold it up with the tent so it packs away in one piece. If this is a bad idea I will stop doing it.
On another note. A friend of mine is looking at getting the extra doorside window retrofitted. Is this a viable option?

When it is packed away I mean...If you arent using the awning, it should be packed away. The only time the awning is zipped onto the top is when its being used!

Got one also. Very very happy. Didn't get the water tank as found somewhere to get tank cheaper.
Got the full annex but we had zips put in the front corners so you could remove either side or front.
Had to think a bit how to mount the tent pole holder on the front. Couldn't find the right brackets. I wanted to mount it so it sat on the draw bar but could not any suitable brackets. Eventually had to mount it off the bar.
Anyone got any pics of how they mounted their tent pole holder?
Extremely happy i got it,
