Would a thermo fan be better blowing or sucking through a top mount intercooler?

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but generally fans are designed as pullers but of-course they function in both directions.

I would look at it this way...

If there is plenty of room between the fins, I would use it as a pusher, just because of ease in installation.

If the fins look like they might really restrict the flow, then pulling is the way to go. What it is, if the air is too hard to blow through the unit, the air will escape out the sides. With pullers, the suction brings the fan closer and the % of air that flows through the unit would be higher.

Plus the fin design is an issue...Consider this:

Look at an aircraft wing cross section (ok little bit different but for illustration purpose)... It has no problems flowing the air in a forward manner, but if you look at the air flow pattern with the wing going with reverse wind flow you will see plenty more vortex's of air, meaning more drag...

What this means is: Less effecient.

Sucking, that way it's sucking in cool air from otuside through the intercooler not blowing hot air from around the engine.

Thanks guys,i like the idea of sucking the fresh air through it,just hope i have enough room as i dont have a body lift! could soon fix that though....
