Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Does any of the tyre makers actually make a 35" tyre? Real world sizes seem to range from 33" to 34.8". Guess it is too hard to go that extra 0.2"

Yeah, the Simex 34x11.6-16 comes up measured at 35.2"

Simex 35x10.5x15=35.04

simex. .are the only tyre i have come acros that have a 'true" size tyre...

I spose you could look at it the other way,... You bought a set of
34 simex and bolted them on to find that they were useless for
your aplication because they chewed your guards. The "over-
sizing" of some rubber can be just as anoying.
A couple of tyres that go real close to 35 are the ProComp muds
and the Maxxis radial Trepadore. Alot of others measure up at
about 34.8, like you say...................
Or are Western inches different to Eastern inches?

simex 35x12.5 3 lug measure more than 35, closer to 36 when new.

everyone I know with simex tires always say
'' they are 34s but they REALLY measure 35.7[insert size]''
and then next time.....
'' they are 34s but they REALLY measure 36.1''
and next time they are 37s!!!
I hear 36''x12.5'' exteme trekker 2s are measuring pretty close to 41'' these days! and thats on 10psi. LOL

Don't you mean metric to inches measure the tyre in metric and see what their size chart says you'll probably find it's exact.

1 inch is 25.2mm

Maybe you should come and measure my tyres then, as I clearly cant work a tape measure and some ends.

The 34x11.5-16 JT2 measures 35.2" when new as measured, and 300mm in width on the dot when fitted to an 8" rim.

well my old 36's were bigger than a mates mtr 37's... but maybe his 37's were closer to a 36????

Eugene, we have simex 2 lug 35's here and Simex 3 lug 35s here, and side by side the 3 lug are considerably taller. The 2 lug were slightly under 35" when new, and at the same psi, the 3 lug are over - the difference is a little over 1 inch in total. I think this is why the comp guys went for the 3 lug 35's, cause they measures over 35" .

This is no wank, I can measure them exactly for you if you like. Suffice to say there has been frequent comment that tyres often do not measure what they state on the carcass.....such is the case here.

Dont worry guys, I do know simex do measure on the big side, I just think its funny that true size is the fastest thing to come out of a simex owners mouth, and its something almost always made up, depending on how many cans they have had.
I have some Simex 36''x12.5'',15 Extreme trekka 2s and they sure as hell, are not as big as my Mickey Thomson 36''x 12.5'',15 Baja Belted.

On the mickey t train- the website says 35x12.5 radial claws are 889mm, when mine were brand new fitted to 15x8's @ 30psi i measured them to be 3mm less than this. (889/25.4=35.00) On the truck though they are less of course. If you want a true 35 with weight of the truck on it buy bigger.

The approved rim width for those tyres is 8.5"-11.0" Why did you choose to run 8"s?

*EDIT* The USA site approves an 8.5" rim whereas the AUS site says between 8"-10".. Due to different design rules or what?

I think you'll find most people run 12.5's on an 8" rim. Being a hilux too i like to air 'em way down, and the 8's hang on to the bead better than a 10" wide rim. (street driven, didn't want beadlocks)

Yeah, sweet as... I also run the min rim width for mine and find them to hang on well.

On first glance (USA site) I thought you had them outside the approved range... my mistake
