Feroza Transfer box modifications?

Has anyone ever modified their Feroza transfer box?
The Suzuki boys can do a conversion called a rock lobster, where they machine a couple of gears from 410 and 413 transfer boxes, so that they get a far better low ratio whilst retaining a good high ratio for road use.
Did the Fez ever come with different transfer box ratios? Are there any other Daihatsu transfer boxes that might have different ratios that can be swapped into the Fez box?
Thanks in advance.
Paul.

Probably the only "factory" way to lower your final drive ratio is to use diffs from an AUTO Feroza. Can't remember the exact ratios off the top of my head, but they'll give you a noticable improvement, though nowhere near as much as Rocklobsters.
MightyMouse has the right idea, I think, with using a Vitara box and transfer. You're obviously pretty switched on with your mods and seem to have the workshop facilities to do it. That's what I'd be doing if I had the time and workshop.

I had the feeling I would be pi**ing into the wind with the idea of a gear swap.
I want to keep my little Fez on the standard engine and box as every other vehicle I own 'has' or 'is' having a motor/transmission/axle swap.
I've never seen a Feroza/Sportrak auto in the U.K. What ratio were the diffs as that would be a really easy swap to help with gearing.
I'm about to get stuck into another Sportrak at very long last. Its getting portal axles, 3.5 V8 and an auto box. I've had all the parts to build it for over a year, but work has been so hectic, I've not had time to get near it.
Now you see what I want to keep the other one reasonably standard.

Take it from me - there is NOTHING available aftermarket in the way of transfer gears for a Feroza......
Even went to the point of designing some gears but it just wasn't worth the effort. ($$$$....$$$$$....$$$$)
After looking at the stock case, I also wasn't very convinced that it would take the extra strain ( assuming you want gears to do some serious off roading )
So the smartest option seemed a gearbox/ transfer swap. I am going for Vitara but for a real axlebuster then there are many other options that would be suitable.
I also want to maintain a "stock" appearamce - the Vitara stuff looks normal whereas a cruiser case etc would stand out.
So if my advice is worth anything - start with a clean sheet of paper, don't waste your time on the Feroza case.
As for auto's have only seen one case in Australia and there was no info on it. As for diff ratios, once you start getting up in the ratios you can create weaknesses due to tooth loading etc. 5.285 is already higher than most and whilst there are speciality higher ratios available for some diffs they are expensive aftermarket - and not without problems.
Choice is non existant for a Feroza in the aftermarket.

Thats pretty much what I had thought.
There is nothing available in the Uk market for the Fez, and having done a little research, the Fez Auto is as rare in the UK as Rocking Horse Sh*t.
I'll give the idea up as a bad job and move on to the next project.
