Quick questions for you.
1. Does a 1300 dizzy fit a 1600 (think the answers no)
2. Does a 16 valve dizzy fit a 8 valve
3. Does a jimny p/s pump bolt onto 1600 like it does on 1300
4. Can a 1600 radiator vit in 1300 engine bay without major probs
Thanks for any ideas/help

I have a 1.6 carbie vitara engine and AFAIK its basically the same block as the 1.3, and the jimny ps pump does not bolt straight on, the top two holes line up but the bottom third hole does not and the ps pump bracket needs to be redrilled.
Not sure on the differences between the carby and 16v injected vit blocks though if someone else could answer that one.

Thanks zooker I never put the p/s on the 1300 but was told the jimny bracket bolts to the 1300 no mods.
Does it have to be modded heaps? If it does Il just make it rather than buy it then mod it as I dont have the bracket yet.
Will the vit p/s pump on the 1600 work in a sierra or will it sit to low?

The bracket itself only needs one hole redrilled in it, however then you need a way to adjust the belt tension as the original bracket does not allow this (i assume the adjuster is on the aircon bracket in the jimny), so i simply made up a slotted adjuster from a piece of steel then bolted the adjuster to the bracket and the pump to the adjuster.
Also the radiator mount on the chassis needed a bit of trimming because the pump does sit rather low down.
If you can it may be simpler for you to make a new custom bracket, possibly one that sits the pump up a bit higher up on the engine.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess I,l have to buy a 1.6 8valve dizzy.
I was hoping the vit radiator would fit without a body lift. Guess I,ll figure it all out when I get all the parts in the one place!

Tried to fit the vit radiator in but its too big. It wont fit between the steering box and the passenger side chassis rail. Probly fit with body lift but spoa with 2" springs is tall enough.
Do manual and auto vit radiators differ in size?

yes you can fit the vitara radiator into a sierra with no body lift, i just did it the other day. although i did hit the bonnet in a little and made up a custom braket for it. i have also put a V6 commodore radiator in a sierra with a 2 inch body lift. having said this . i did away with the original latch and put 2 bonnet clips on the bonnet. hope this helps you guys !!

ahhh stop asking questions and put it in! haha, ill come over an give you a hand, an ill just make you up a braket for the p.s pump..... an why dont you just run the 1300 rad until you get the engine in and running the fiddle around with that??

Smart a$$! I thinkk the zook radiator is stuffed thats why I want to put in the vit radiator. All but got the motor out just getting everything ready.
Found out why Im going through fuel filters every trip. When the lux diffs went in theres a hole blown in the return line from the charcoal cannister to the fuel tank!

Tim how did you fit the radiator between the steering box between and chassis? I tried a auto vit radiator and it seemed too big. Do you know if there is a difference between auto and manual radiators? When I put in the datto engine the auto radiator was bigger than the manual.

you have to make up/ modify the bracket to suit, its custom all the way !

i think he means it dosent fit between the chassie rails, and if u sit if above it dosent fit under the bonnet..... its easy to to make modded brakets, but it dosent fit to start...

I put a radiator out of an 88 carby vit in my sierra, utilised the sierra bracket on the right and cut and shut the drivers side one to bolt to the vit radiator. I had a 88 1.6 carby 8 valve in my 89 sierra and YES the dizzy from the 1.3 fitted. i had to change it as my plugs were different to the vit dizzy ones.
Cheers Gricey.

Ok Ive got the 1600 in!
1600 dizzy shaft is longer than 1300. It starts but I have some questions for you.
1. Does the vit heater hose between the back of the water pump and the heater unit work in a sierra?
2. It idles at 3000rpm is there a idle up soleniod or somthing too adjust?
3. From the front of the carby there is a hose coming out the left at the top where does it go?
4. What do I do with the seirra fuel return line all the pipes on the fuel pump already have hoses on them?
Ive searched my manuel but as its for seirra and vitara its a bit vague.
Thanks Nik

Ok I had another crack at it. I pulled the carby apart and gave it a clean, it idles alot lower now but still rough. I think alot of that is somthing to do with number one not firing properly. I thought my timing light was broken until I tried the other leads.
The hose Im still finding a home for looks like it is a breather for the fuel bowl.
Fixed the return line too, someone had connected a line from the manifold to the fuel return and at a glance it looked like it should be there till I saw all the fuel coming out the exhuast.

Asked around and found out the breather hose for the fuel bowl goes to the charcoal canister.
It still idles a bit rough not sure what it is. Its around the 1000rpm and the timing is set at 8degrees btdc.

if it is the same as a mpfi i played around with some misc sierra + vit hoses and some L bends till i got them in there.
i basically used the sierra one from tap to firewall but other two were modded.

Finaly got it running. The plug on the front of the carb is the idle solinoid it wont run without it.
Took it for a run today and it was great, didnt have to go back gears to get up hills and off road only used 4wd when I neede the traction not like before using it for the gearing.
