hi

I soon to have a TB42 turbo ..

I over tightned my GT40R coil tonight and snaped that little nut off :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words:

So i need another coil ASAP..

I have a Petronix elec ignition connected to a MSD boost timming master..

Was thinking of getting one of those Petronix coils but wanted to know if the bosch transformer ones work as well or better as i need as much spark as possible running straight gas.

Or any other suggestions as i'm learning still ;)

Thanks alot

Rick.

i have had a couple of those transformer type coils on other cars and had nothing but trouble fine when dry but as soon as it started raining it went to shit
as long as they are fully sealed they are ok but they can get hairline cracks easily and moisture kills em

i have only used the bosh types ie; gt40r and they have always worked well so i would say use that one but i am unsure if there are any other types

Yeh that's all i have used on the car and they work very well like most things at the moment but the turbo will require a few extra things and extra fatter spark would help that's why i thought if i'm going to replace it i wanna make sure it's either better then what i have or just buy the same if it will work.

Thanks mate for ya help

Rick.

if you want more spark get an amplifier, gt40r are good coils, it should be fine. but if your worried go CDI  oh yeah..... dont know how it goes with gas as ive only seen it on petrol but damn thats a good spark

gday

Ive not long ago set up a crane fireball system and MSD blaster coil in my rangie and the msd coil generats a spark that could kill you as i found out the hard way it bit me and i had to sit down for a while as i felt crook in the guts and had a cramp in my arm and chest from it, it shits on the pissy little zap u get from a gt 40 coil

Cheers

Chris

What you also need to ask is, will it be reliable.

A big fat spark is great, but will the unit be reliable enough not to fark up in the middle of a trip.
