Flares for lux

Currently the rubber I'm running sits outside the width of my guards.

I have black plastic/rubber flare type guards (home jobs) mounted to "legalise" it.

I am not to convinced (from what I've heard) that the Transport boys/coppers would view them favourably and ticket me anyways.

I'm wondering if there are any form of aftermarket "bushwacker" type flares that are available for Lux's. :?

Are the Bushwacker ones (Jeeps aren't they) compatible with a Lux?

cheers,

Luke

PS I'm assuming this would make the wider track legal by mounting these type of flares.

Best bet would be check out ARB and TJM they should have something to suit. What you have is fine but if there going to do you for something they'll find some BS way of doing it. By law i'm 90% sure you can't increase your track more than 37.5MM (1 1/2 inches) so if they get picky and measure it and it's over that your done anyway

HI BOWHUNTER,
i think track width is measured from the centre of your tires across the car, wider tires dont necessarily increase your track just your overall width.rim back spacing will change your track.
i.e. stock solid axle rims on an ifs model will increase the track.
that is my understanding.i may be wrong, hopefully someone can confirm this. i ordered a set of bushwacker flares from american custom truck in qld.they are the aussie importer.takes about 6 weeks if they are not in stock.my lux is an 85. check bushwackers site for others.hope that helps.

Cheers boys!

The legality I'm concerned with not complying to is having my tyres outside my guards, not so much the specific wheel track.

I'll look into those option, and put some pics up in the next few days of my Lux.

cheers,

Luke

The flares on there now are really quite stiff. Do they need to be softish so as to not harm pedestrians etc incase I hit one

Looks ok from that angle perhaps a down the side shot would be best also i wouldn't worry about them being hard once they hit that bar i don't think they'll mind :D i'd say there softer than that
