I am going to check out a '97 Jeep Wrangler for a mate tonight. It apparently has chrome bits, leather seats, 87,000km for $16,000.
Is the price reasonable and what should I look for?

It looked to be in very good condition. Front tyres had severe wear on inside of tread and top end engine noise probably tappet adjustment or something simple. Drove well albeit steering touchy. Is this just due to the short wheelbase or is it a front end problem. It also felt like the front diff would turn under the car before the rest of the vehicle would catch up. I'm used to this with a lifted vehicle but not a low vehicle like a stock wrangler
Can't beat the turning circle
He thinks the price is right and will be having it checked by a professional in the next few days.
Does the price sound right?

That price seems very good....especially seeing its only done 87K. Just on sell all the crappy chrome bits after (if) you buy it.

Price sounds great.
Sounds like it simply needs a wheel alignment....
The steering is fairly direct/light - and iff you aren't familiar this can wear the inside of the tyres quicker....also not helps if they aren't regularly rotated...I'd guess the owner hasn't serviced it as much as they should have.....

Firstly the Jeep isn't for me it's for a mate. He also must have got vehicles mixed up coz there were no chrome bits. The price seemed fair to us as well. The seller had $19,000 but has just dropped the price.
Thanks for the advice on the steering wooders.
