Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Are all auto carbied vitara's 3speeds?
Have a friend looking into buying a 93 model and it struck me as odd i always thought they switched to 4 earlier than this so i'm rulling out efi

Al carbied Vitaras (88-10/94) in auto were 3sp. Whilst you could get a 4sp auto from 91, it was the 5dr wagon.
