the 3m 'caramel wheel' is the way to go, less trouble, we use them all the time to get decals off the aircraft

as far as welding panels go, do it with an oxy and no filler rod (except where you blow through), takes plenty of pracyice though, just use a slightly carburising flame and keep youre inner cone 1/8inch off the job and youre molten pool 1/8inch wide, easy!!!!!
