Re: NW Pajero Centre Diff Lock

You cant do it with the transfer due to the way the internal shift rail works. But you can disconnect the front diff via the actuators under the air-cleaner. Catch is it will throw an error code.

Re: NW Pajero - How to remove gear knobs?

On a manual you simply grab the gear knobs and twist anti-clockwise. Pull out the cup holders and remove the two screws and the trim with then lift up.

Pajeroclub people might have more info.

Re: Clevo 351 in need of some love

I have rebuilt ski boat motors before. Frankly, given the low cost of a crate short motor I wouldn't bother with a rebuild any more - it will cost you more and you wont gain anything. Re the cam - leave it stock. You want low down torque in a social ski boat for pulling skiers out of the hole and ...

Re: 2003 np pajero vibration......help

It will be the lock-up torque converter carrying on. They tend to do it if anything other than the Mitsu labelled "DIaqueen" ATF has been used. Get the trans fully flushed and replaced with the (expensive) MM branded ATF. It has fixed this issue in many others.

Re: 2005 Pajero Exceed Diesel

In a Gen 3 pajero the pump, filter and gauge is installed under the right hand rear passenger seat (2nd row - not 3rd). Flip the seat over and you will see a plate with 4 bolts. Remove that and there will be another plate in the cavity below. Remove that plate and you will see the top of the sender ...

Price is for one, try one of the specialist bearing shops for an aftermarket, no special tools as such except for a big hammer to try and free the hub from the knuckle, we undid the top ball joint in order to be able to get at the bolts on the hub without completely removing the half-shaft.

Recently helped a neighbour change one on his. They are only available as a hub unit. MMAL sell them for between $380 and $450 depending on their mood and how much they like you. I understand that there may now be an aftermarket hub available. It was fairly quick and easy to strip down to the hub ...

Have some first hand experience in manual trans failures - wearing out of the splines on the output shaft where it mates with the xfer case - three reported cases so far. Drivetrain backlash in all the manuals I have driven has been huge. Never heard of an issue with the auto except overheating ...

I've found one... Before I exchange the transmission, transfer and $2,400 for a S/H one I thought I would take the back cover off for a look-see. The results can be seen here: http://athene.csu.edu.au/~psproule/transfer/transfer.html Re the failed transmission output shaft... I have now heard of 3 ...

although on second thoughts, every wrecker I have rung seems to have an auto with transfer lying around. Just no manuals. I have been quoted $1300 to $2000 for the auto with trans. You might find it easier to go that way if you have done something serious to it.

Just an update on where we are at with this (have posted similar on the pajeroclub forum) Well, the transmission shop promised to tear it down and have a look but warned that the likely failed parts would be very expensive. I suggested that in the meantime I would price a second hand unit and get ...

Looks like I was wrong about the shift rail drive gears being out of place (sorry Mr Mitsu mechanic). The diagram is misleading as it shows them both in a particular position at the same time. The way it actually works is that the rear gear is in the home position with the actuator rail all the way ...

Thanks guys - this helps quite a bit. I am going to ask the trans guy to at least take the back cover off and have a look for damage to the diff lock hub and 2WD / 4WD clutch sleeve. Re the diff-lock detent switch. I have had a good look at the diagrams now and can see why the computer shows the ...

NM Transfer case

Hi Folks, if any of you also hang out on the pajeroclub or overlander forums you may have followed the first part of my story with an NM centre diff lock that doesn’t lock: http://www.pajeroclub.com.au/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9876&PN=1 (fourm is down at the moment) http://forums.overlander.com.au/v ...
