Im using it to go under a 56 morris minor panelvan and mounting a 253 in it. The reason for the date is for approval for SR plates as the hilux chassis I have not is 82 and they tell me its no good, must be pre 80. Its really a blessing in disguise as they are standard with a v8 and good rear ...

Im looking fo a early range rover chassis... pre 80's. Is there any way of an engineer telling the year from the chassis number?

Im the new owner of a u900 - 406 and want to convert it to rhd to get it reg in Vic. It cant be reg even thouigh its over 25 years old because its over 4.5 t gvm making it a light truck... they have also told me I cant reg as tractor.... not really sure why..... I found a transfer case... 200 clams \i thought that wasnt too bad as I just got a reply from a wrecker i contacted weeks ago and he can do me a super deal on his last one only 1200 bucks,,,,ffs.... What other vehicles used the same stud pattern as 404 mogs?... I think I remember someone saying landrover early series or similar, I presume the centre would be smaller and need trimming out but its just for wheeling axles around the shop while I build up the beast....Unless anyone has some mog ...

would they handle being the rear of a double transfercase?
Prob will be behind rover 3.5 + 4 speed or 283 with t400, nissan720 transfer then MQ....
Also could they be mounted upsidedown to have front shaft on PS to suit mogs?

thats the go.... a bit low to the ground for allowing the swivell to work but concept is the same....

Im as sure as I can be about getting it on the road... Ive done all the preliminary question asking and Im confident enough to spend 6-7k on this thing to give it a shot... Look the way these places go I guess you cant be 100% until you have the plates... But Im 97% I hope to get a start on it real ...

I dissagree.. I have spoken to vic roads... also I know of a guy around the corner who mounted a f100 cab on an old butterbox international chassis and custom built wheels that are about 6ft diamiter and its reg as tractor...
even though it is a truck chassis and light truck cab..

Also... why poor ground pressure? I dont get that one... all 4 wheels touching the ground with weight on aposed to 3 on and 1 off when you are climbing..... you got me there... I also should have mentioned that the swivel will be dynamic with either suspension springs or air / hydro rams ...
