Re: Hj61 hf55 Vs Hj60 hf55
Thanks MQ. Im glad Ive found someone who agrees with me. It is logical isnt it. Why would you turbo a 2h and leave the gear ratios the same. The extra torque created should translate into a fuel saving by haveing lower revs at the same speed. I have not found any proof yet however. Im waiting for a...

Re: Hj61 hf55 Vs Hj60 hf55
If the 61 came stock with different diff ratios or transfer gears then this will be factored into it's speedo.
I believe the 12HT factory gearing is taller to allow lower highway revs due to the greater torque of the turbo motor.

Re: troopy tyres & diffs
I think they've sagged a little, but there is plenty of space around the current 235's. Flexing it up it can hit the bumpstops left, right, front and rear- and when I ask if tyres rub, I mean under full flex- not "only sometimes" etc. I had bunky scrubbing action on big tyres on my old MQ ...

Re: troopy tyres & diffs
And de-luxe, I just read your build thread- nice 40 btw.
However you say in that thread your 35's rubbed.
I'd love to know if anyone has run 255/85R16's with no lift and no rubbing?
If no one knows I guess I just buy the tyres and if they rub lift it.
Any opinions on the superior 2" kit?

Re: troopy tyres & diffs
Cheers for the replies guys.
Can't find 33x9.5's on the BFG website though.
255/85 R16's seem common enough so I'll probably go with them.

Re: troopy tyres & diffs
Holy thread resurrection batman! Had a search and it was either resurrect a fossil or start a new one that had been semi-covered before, bit of a catch-22... Anyway: I have an '84 HJ47 ute currently running 235/85 16 tyres on the original 5.5inch split rims. Great car, very happy, however the 4spd g...

very very interesting in deed...... Might have to do some research. Still think im gonna do the twin 2.5 inch zorst on the 308 on std manifolds. If i put extractors on and the twin 2.5 id say id lose too much back pressure, but with the restriction at the start, ive got what i need. Doing this in m...

When I first took mine off, I would have said it makes absolutely no difference on road, but it made a huge difference in flex. Over time I think this has softened up the leafs a bit and it gets sliiightly more bodyroll than before. They handle like crap anyway so don't hesitate- for the MASSIVE imp...

Actually i'm in perth. Guess that explains why I have the impression not many are left- less people, less cars in general, less old patrols. I can probably remember seeing about 5 on the road since I got interested in them, and saw mine driving around before i got it out of the newspaper. Their scar...

Have an '84 MK SWB, L28, 4spd manual. The clutch died today. Wondering how to replace it, and/or if i can very easily slot in a 5spd manual MK box off a diesel or later petrol, or an auto box of the same age. If anyone still drives these things or makes it their business to know about them, then you...
